Long ago, three fugitives — a thief, a bald brute, and a mute girl — wandered into the woods, freezing to death. Mossfather found them and offered shelter… at a price. They couldn’t read the terms. They swallowed them instead.
The forest accepted their signatures.
The girl became Sylth — her flesh hardened into bark, her gaze buried deep within the wood.
The brute became Tanglewood — a living mass of roots and rage, bound to the earth.
The thief tried to flee — but became the cradle of The Spore Court, a writhing brood born from rot and laughter.
Since then, the Covenant walks the forest.
If you see Sylth — you’ve already signed.
If you hear Tanglewood — it’s too late to run.
If The Spore Court laughs — the forest has reclaimed what was owed.
And at the center sits Mossfather.
He doesn’t collect debts.
Debts collect themselves.
